If you find yourself involved in a large truck crash, you could become seriously hurt or even lose your life. Sadly, these accidents happen too often and it is important to recognize how prevalent fatal truck collisions are. Moreover, truck drivers who cause deadly collisions must answer for the pain and suffering brought on by these devastating accidents.

Every year, victims of various ages lose their lives because of negligent truckers. Whether a truck driver takes to the road even though they are too tired to focus, they drive too fast or they use alcohol or drugs behind the wheel, these accidents have many causes.

Large truck accidents claim thousands of lives each year

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration reports that 5,096 large trucks and buses were part of fatal accidents in 2018. Also, this reflects a 1% increase in comparison to 2017. In 2005, fatal accidents involved over 5,200 large trucks and buses.

Due to the massive size of large trucks, the likelihood of an accident resulting in the loss of life is especially high. Tragically, these wrecks will claim more lives in the months ahead.

Statistics on injuries and large truck crashes

Even when truck accidents do not claim lives, those involved often sustain injuries. In 2018, roughly 121,000 people suffered injuries in large truck and bus accidents, an 8% increase in comparison to 2016. Between 2009 and 2015, large truck and bus accident injuries increased by 45%.

If you suffered a serious injury or lost someone you love because of a reckless truck driver, make sure you take steps to hold them answerable.
