Two people are dead after a tragic car accident in Louisiana. It was a two-vehicle crash, and as of the latest reports, the Louisiana State Police are still conducting an investigation to determine exactly what happened.

As of now, it appears that a 27-year-old woman was driving down I-10. She and her 7-year-old son, both of whom were from Baton Rouge, were in the car together. It was also carrying a man and his son, a 3-year-old. Additionally, the young woman was pregnant and carrying twins.

Just before noon on Monday, Feb. 24, their car was rear-ended by a pickup truck. The mother and her son were both killed in the wreck. The man and his son suffered injuries, though it is unclear how severe they were. Both did get rushed to the hospital by emergency crews.

The police do not yet have the toxicology test results back yet, but they do not think that impairment on the part of the pickup truck driver played a role. They’ll know for sure when they do get those results. That driver did not suffer any injuries.

One thing that the police are looking into is whether or not all of the people involved in the crash had their seat belts on at the time of the wreck.

Accidents happen quickly, and lives can be lost in a heartbeat. People who did not think their day would be anything out of the ordinary can suddenly find themselves in the hospital with injuries, mourning loved ones. It’s critical for all involved to know what legal rights they have to compensation.
