Man suffers catastrophic injuries, dies due to alleged drag racer

In Baton Rouge and throughout Louisiana, many auto accidents are due to a reckless driver, a negligent driver, a distracted driver or a driver under the influence. When the accident is because of a driver who was not behaving in a lawful manner and did not exhibit any care about others who might be on the road, it is egregious. This is particularly true when it is because of drivers who were drag racing. Because an auto accident can cause catastrophic injuries and death, a legal filing might be necessary to get adequate compensation.

A man died when he was hit by a vehicle that is believed to have been in a drag race. According to the investigation, the 70-year-old man was moving furniture outside his antique business when he was hit. His son was assisting him. He was sitting in his Toyota Tundra when an 18-year-old man in a Ford Mustang lost control of his vehicle, hit the curb and then the Tundra. The vehicles were sent a great distance due to the impact. The business owner was taken to the hospital and was declared dead. His son also suffered major injuries including a broken leg, fractured ribs, and damage to his spleen. The driver of the Mustang was also hospitalized. There are pending criminal charges against him as the investigation continues.

Those who are facing the aftermath of a car accident as the victim or the loved ones of a person who died will have a lot to consider. The lost companionship, lost income, emotional trauma, medical costs, funeral expenses and more can be personally and financially devastating. A legal filing for compensation will not bring the person back or prevent them from having issues for the rest of their life because of the crash, but it can help to cover for costs and other problems that stem from a driver's negligent and dangerous acts.

A man who was simply bringing furniture into his business with his son was killed when an apparent drag racer crashed into his vehicle. The son was seriously hurt. As this family sifts through what happened, they must remember the critical nature of having legal assistance from a law firm that specializes in helping those who have been affected by car accidents. Calling for a consultation is the first step.
